History
a. SpaceWing 8 started during WWII on Earth and was established 1 June 1943 as AirWing 8 and has been involved in almost every human conflict since then. During the time of space exploration and prior to the Reign of the Messer’s a small portion of what was then the US Navy splintered off. They took with them their families and organically added civilian roles as needed with the goal to become fully self sustaining and observing their vision of living free while keeping with the traditions of the old US Navy. Due to necessity, they added trading, mining, farming and many other roles to their organization.
b. Life was hard in space and in the spirit of living free from rule AirWing 8 (renamed as SpaceWing 8) settled as far as their ships would allow. Life was manageable until the attack from an unknown alien life form flying ships of unbelievable speed and maneuverability. The attack left the SW8 weakened and vulnerable. This led to the great journey back into human territory.
c. The return was a blessing as things had changes substantially especially with the fall of the Messer empire. SW8 could now live free among human controlled space. SW8 is now a shadow of its former glory but the vision and desire live on. Starting within the relative safety of Stanton SW8 will rise again and live free amongst the stars.
d. While its origin are military in nature, SW8 is now more than just a military unit. It now represents a group of people who stand behind the principal of freedom and wish to live free. We are not afraid of hard work and will do anything to maintain and uphold our ideals. Although not technically under the UEE the standing principals and idealogy mean that SW8 will perform similar duties especially within SW8 sphere of influence.
e. The Military portion prides itself on being the best and is the reason why SW8 has survived through the years. They maintain professional and highly trained squadrons. The unit structure revolves around Carrier groups and their respective squadrons. Constant training and a high level of readiness are the hallmarks of SW8.
f. The civilian side is divided into Groups which cater to certain roles. They can also form support units for the military side as needed. (eg. Refuelers reassignd for combat duty) Typically Civilians ships will be assigned to strike packages as mission needs require.
Manifesto
To conduct Warfare operations in Space, Atmosphere and Land and assist in planning, control, coordination and integration of air wing squadrons in support of Carrier warfare including; Interception and destruction of enemy craft and missiles in all conditions to establish and maintain superiority. Detection, localization, and destruction of enemy craft to establish and maintain local area control. Photographic, sighting, and electronic intelligence for Naval and Joint operations. Electronic countermeasures. In-flight refueling operations. Search and Rescue operations.
Charter
a. No cheating, exploiting or hacking allowed.
b. Respect is a pillar of our organization. Respect runs both up and down the chain of command.
i. In general stay away from politics, religion or any other subjects which may be offensive or abusive. We are here to have fun.
c. Comms: Discord is our primary communication path however we will look at in game comms in keeping with the spirit of the game.
d. Participation is highly encouraged but not mandatory at this time. Once the PU is released we will revisit this policy.
e. Streaming/Recording is allowed while following the highest levels of etiquette. Using the content to grief, troll or otherwise harass members is not allowed unless agreed upon or in use as part of the universe. We may at times record content for our own purposes or to promote the organization as a whole.
