The Flying Tigers: Professionalism, Commitment, Honor, Family, Fun.

History

The Original Flying Tigers were a group of American volunteers organized to fight the Japanese in WW2. For a deep dive in their history, please see this link to wikipedia

Eventually, they were rolled into the 14th US Air Force for the remainder of the war. They were famous for their great record, and the sharkjaw painting on their P-40 Warhawk fighter planes (which they got from the British). After the war, some of the pilots established an air carrier line with the same name as their unit. For more on this topic, please see this” link to wikipedia.

When the UEEN needed a new wing component for the newly commissioned UEES Paladin (A Bengal Class carrier), the 14th VFC was formed. As a reference to the 14th Air Force from WW2, the unit was nicknamed the Flying Tigers. Following the heritage, members painted the sharkjaw on their spacecraft, and use WW2 style pinups in naming and decorating their ships. After a drawdown in forces following the Teverin war, VFC14 and the Paladin Carrier Battlegroup were decommissioned.

The pilots reformed as a private military corporation, and contract out to the UEEN still as a security firm. They have since branched out to bounty hunting, exploration, scouting, intelligence gathering, logistics and freight handling, and other concerns, as their predecessors did after WW2. While there is a role for any pilot willing to join, the focus of the Flying Tigers remains security and combat.

In 2946, the Unit acquired their current home, the Polaris class corvette, the UEES Chennault named after the founder of the original Flying Tigers.

Manifesto

Welcome to the home of the Flying Tigers. This Organization is built with a roleplaying component and a focus on military action.

In game, we are an elite team of UEE Military-trained professionals. Our squadrons have faced Pirate and Vanduul forces in combat, and have come out on top. We supplement the UEE Navy as well as planetary militias with intelligence, logistics, transport, and disaster relief, and our pilots are experienced in air and space combat, support, escort, and exploration.

Out of game, we are a relaxed, yet professional gaming group. We don’t play meta, we play to have fun in the Best Damn Space Sim Ever, and we do it under a meritocracy, with a focus on leadership, good sportsmanship, and an attitude of family first.

Originally, our founding members came from playing the game Mechwarrior Online, and the Aces Wild (the MWO members) are still known in the MWO community as a professional, laid-back, fun-having and active group. We carry the traditions, culture, and beer into this new realm.
