The Black Network / VIGILANTS

If you want to engage with the more criminal side of the verse, we’re here for it. We also engage in other ops as well. We don’t let our activities necessarily define what we’re limited to doing overall.

Governance

The Black Network does not operate as a traditional mafia-type syndicate, but rather a matriarchal type society where power is passed down to a council. Plainly speaking, this means decisions fall on junior and senior members alike and cannot be made by one person. The network wants representation for its broader member-base as well as its leadership. If both sides don’t agree on a decision / vote, then it cannot happen. We want everyone to feel like they are heard here.

What we do

The Black Network is a criminal org that prioritizes the following.

• Cool roleplay/larp that lets people be the scum they always wanted to be without judgement.
• Democratic type internal government that let’s junior and senior members campaign for positions in a senate and house that weighs in on decision making.
• Secure operations above dangerous POI, abandoned mining sites, and unsecured facilities. (Hathor, Laz, Etc)
• Blockade chokepoints and demand pay for passage.
• Piracy. Gain by any means necessary. Not just wanton murder, but if violence is the solution, we are not afraid to go this route.
• Operations: mining, salvaging, points of interest.
• Chilling out, because being serious all the time sucks.
• Other games, because we want to be a place to be friends as well.

What we need

The Black Network needs a variety of individuals with various talents and access to gameplay loops.

• Fighter pilots.
• Capital class ship owners.
• FPS players.
• Any kind of industrialist (mining, salvaging, etc).
• Datarunners. In other words, scouts to find valuable ore veins, ship wrecks, enemy movements, and more.
• Anything else you think you can offer, we will take. Tell us about your personal talents in your application.

What we Offer

• Insight into gameplay loops.
• Knowledge on how to make AUEC, what items sell on the player market, etc.
• Community help for self goals. We’ll help you complete events, etc.
• Events every week for a variety of game loops.
• An environment where you can learn the game as a newbie. We’ll let you tag along on ops to let you get your feet wet without having the weight of decision making on your shoulders.

Rank Structure

The syndicate founder is known as the Dread Lord who cannot make massive decisions on their own, and a vice leader known as The Voice who can only speak for the Dread Lord. In order for a big decision to be made, such as a war declaration, planning a big event like a tournament, syndicate restructuring, etc, the decision must be made within The Dark Council.

The Council comprises of the senate, which consists of senior members; and the house, which consists of junior / regular members. Both sides must agree on a decision by majority in order for it to be passed to the Dread Lord, who then approves or vetos it (but only vetos up to two times).

This rank structure allows for cool house of cards larp while also letting decisions be made by the community at large. This not to say every single thing must done in some lengthy deliberation. Planning normal regular events like a hathor or lazarus (and many consider those to be big already!) is able to be with the snap of an event coordinator’s fingers.

So rank is designed to be something to have fun with. Make a joke bill / vote if you want.

How to Apply

Add staria1924 on discord and apply here. You will be invited to a server called “Starias Den.”

The Rules

For all people to abide by:

• Respect one another
• No Homophobia, Transphobia, Racism, etc.
• Treat one another as you would like to be treated
• Do your best to not target anyone in the org or allies.
• Don’t make a personal game problem everyone’s problem. The game sucks; I get it. We will not stop an entire operation that’s otherwise going well just to help resolve a small bug. (IE: Bad server, hangar poltergeist devouring ship on repeat, etc.)

When out in the verse:

• Given our nature, anyone can be a target. Plunder as you see fit. You will not be judged for it.
• Treat people the same way you’d treat them in the org when it comes to values (so no bigotry, although trash talk is fine. I suppose: have some class. Larp it out.)
• The Black Network automatically distances itself from personal parley. This means while you’re free to make your own fortune and backstab, we distance ourselves from the actions of individuals. We may or may not help you depending on the circumstances of your predicament. Generally: keeping your end of the bargain makes a good name for yourself. Try to do that. If you don’t, then we take no responsibility for your ruined business relationships.

• We need not speak of the worst offenses, that which if committed, will result in furious retribution. You would need to be a miserable person, such a horrible, distasteful muppet that even petty criminals and the likes of scalpers would detest you. There is honor among thieves here in the network. This is the golden rule that you must abide by.

KEEP IT INSIDE THE SPACE GAME

No matter what, you will keep everything inside the game. This is the golden rule, and if you are not an irredeemable, chaotically evil, inbred bhaalspawn, it will be extremely hard to break this rule, and impossible to break it by accident.

You take it out the game, then we’ll take it out on you in the game.
