Squadron 7 is an ex-UEE team of men and women willing to sacrifice anything to prevent corporate greed, corrupt governments, and pilots who are a detriment to society (Pirates, rogues, ect) and to protect the freedoms of our fellow star citizens.
After the Roswell incident in 1947, it became self-evident to the American government that we must be prepared for whatever life throws at us, especially when dealing with extraterrestrial entities. For this reason, in 1950, the US government began a top-secret experiment into exoatmospheric combat, both in-ship and out. To hide their true intent, the government formed NASA in 1958 to hide the true intent of this experiment.
In order to provide a better front, a third party leaked the US government’s most basic designs to Russia, beginning the public space race. Since our government had been researching these concepts nonstop since 1950, they had already designed the Apollo-generation rockets. From there, it was all about timing. The first trip to the moon’s timeline was pre-planned, in order to defuse tension at the height of the Cold War.
After the Cold War was resolved, research began full-force into not only exoatmospheric combat, but habitation and inspection of other planets. By 1973, NASA had developed the ExoJet MK. 1 (now called the Falcon 1), the Voyager probes, rovers Sojourner, Oppertunity, spirit and Curiosity; and a Sabre-class fighter whose early design was leaked to a company called Bungie, LLC. in 2011.
After the Shuttles were released, NASA was having a hard time keeping up with the rapid demand in the US government’s research deadlines, so in 2002, the US Government founded SpaceX to help relieve some stress off the scientists at NASA and to provide yet another front for operating off of.
In 2013, the US government got ahold of a man by the name of Chris Roberts, and told him to develop a game that could simulate life off the planet earth. Eager to do so, Roberts got straight to work. Unfortunately, due to budget cuts, he wasn’t able to recieve the funding he needed from the government, so he ran a crowdfunding campaign so successful, it is to this day considered “the most successful crowdfunded item in history”.
In 2028, the US government shut down NASA and SpaceX, deeming the project “hopeless” after a highly experimental antimatter reactor ruptured, generating the Great Sinkhole of Montana. All assets were liquidated on the black market to an unknown dealer via a government worm, and the man it was sold to was none other than Chris Roberts. After recieving the entirety of the reports and all hardware necessary to continue work, he formed Roberts Space Industries and became the world’s first trillionaire.
After a long journey, RSI began interstellar travel in 2030 and intergalactic travel in 2035. Due to this rapid expansion, unrest between humanity began rising again, leading to mass conflicts for the newly discovered frontier, leading to the formation of an adaptation of the United Nations, the United Empires of Earth. After reestablishing control in the Sol system, a time of chaos was still at hand. The entire solar system was now a stage for the frontier mentality that the United States had experienced in its infancy.
Out of the necessity for order, the UEE became a galaxy-wide superpower, creating many squadrons to patrol the sectors to maintain safety and order in an otherwise lawless galaxy.
One of the oldest and most decorated squadrons around, Squadron 7 was one of the first 10 to be founded in 2039, right after the Neptune Incident. This gave way to a long line of dedicated, decorated soldiers who were dedicated to their cause in protecting the innocent and fighting for the greater good.
Unfortunately, in 2050, the first 10 squadrons were officially decommissioned from active service, but all was not lost. Out of the ashes came a leader, simply called Void Raider, who has helped his fellow soldiers pick up arms once again and fight for what they believe in.
Our legacy as Squadron 7 has long been forgotten. We shall rise back to our glory days one good deed at a time.
Obviously, nice doesn’t put fuel in the tanks or missiles on our racks, so we will also be involved in a lot of extra activities, like security missions. Additionally, any ships we seize in conflict are going to be kept by us, either to be resold, added to our fleet, or scrapped and sold for parts (if they have vehicle insurance).
These roles determine behavior in combat.
These roles determine behavior out of combat. More will be added as more of the universe is discovered.
Members of Squadron 7 swear to uphold the law of the land when there are none who remain to uphold it. We promise to provide safety and security to all, regardless of location or time.
In this time of great expansion, it is critical to provide protection to those who wish to expand humanity’s potential, and destroy those who don’t. We shall guard the innocents with our own lives, as if they were our brothers, and rid the galaxy of atrocities committed against our fellow men, including pirates and raiders.
We shall not bow to terrorism, nor shall we disrupt uncorrupted infrastructure. We shall never steal nor kill unless it is to return stolen goods or to defeat an aggressor. We shall never fire the first shot, but shall always fire the last.
During a battle, we shall remain wholesome to these laws. We shall never shoot down an ejection pod, and we shall not allow our own pilots to fall into the wrong hands. We shall remain diplomatically neutral with all countries and companies alike, and will not accept bribes or work for corrupt businesses or clients.
This code binds us all in brotherhood, and shall never be betrayed.
