VORTAC FEDERATION / VORTAC

The Vortac Federation was founded by a large collection of renegade genetically re-engineered humans, scientists and their families. Originally from Earth, they colonized their present home system, Iconia. The system is located in the Z-6 Sector of the Iota Pavonis Sector Block. The Vortac Federation has achieved an extreme level of biotechnology expertise along with establishing of a vast trade consortium. The group was ostracized from Earth-based culture and the established scientific community in 2132 and launched a deep-space convoy of 14 ships to establish a libertarian-based society. Iconia appears to have been the home of a long-vanished civilization with ruins dating back over 200,000 years ago. It has been established that this previous civilization was rumored to have gateways and could travel from system to system without ships. They are also rumored to have built Dyson Spheres as staging bases. Other systems in the Vortac Federation include Dewa, Solan and Nopada Prime, which are inhabited by other humanoid races – the Dewan, Solanae and others. The Solanae are esteemed for their piloting skills.
