Virtus Vindici / VVD

August 2, 2610 SET a young pilot in orbit around Elysium IV sees the Tevarin battlefleet of Corath’Thal jump into orbit. The pilot realizes he will die, but readies himself to defend his home world, accepting his fate but refusing to surrender to it.

In stead of fighting and dying however he becomes a witness to one of the most intriguing moments in both Tevarin and Human history. He sees a fleet thrust itself into the womb of it’s species origin. He sees a sacrifice unlike any in history. He sees a proud species kill itself on the shores, plains and seas from which it originated.

The Tevarin’s tenets of honour, duty and sacrifice are twisted into a kamikaze strike aimed at the center of it’s own world, a strike that gains nothing but the death of its own species. The pilot sees all this, understands that Mankind also knows honour, duty and sacrifice the way the Tevarin do but he also realizes that this is not the way Mankind would fight. He understands that humanity, to defeat all other races, will have to do the unthinkable to achieve victory. He understands the Tevarin where defeated soundly by the UEE and even more thoroughly by themselves. He understands that only embracing the greatest weakness of a species, not it strength it can gain the upper hand.

Humans are not Tevarin. We are underhanded, stubborn, greedy, deluded about our own importance as well as loving, self sacrificing and keenly aware of our own mortality. We would not surrender or destroy ourselves the way the Tevarin would, time and time again humanity has shown that defeat nor oppression can stop humanity.
