History Manifesto Charter

History

The tag WOOF comes from the movie Kelly’s Heroes. If you’re familiar with this movie, you’re probably grinning knowingly now. If you aren’t, well let’s just say there’s a character named Oddball. He is a tank commander who is very true to his name and likes to say “woof”. He is our patron saint and below you can read our favorite tenet from his scriptures:

Well, yeah, man, you see, like, all the tanks we come up against are bigger and better than ours, so all we can hope to do is, like, scare ‘em away, y’know. This gun is an ordinary 76mm but we add this piece of pipe onto it, and the Krauts think, like, maybe it’s a 90mm. We got our own ammunition, it’s filled with paint. When we fire it, it makes… pretty pictures. Scares the hell outta people! We have a loudspeaker here, and when we go into battle we play music, very loud. It kind of… calms us down.

Manifesto

We are what most would probably call a “social clan” (the term “bloody casuals” has also been used on at least one occasion). This doesn’t mean we don’t care about the game and its inner workings though, because we do. We’re not the kind of players who always ignore or fail to understand the mechanics of the game and then complain about hacks, or whatever. We are in this game for the fun of it, but the fun comes from playing the game properly, knowing and understanding the mechanics.

If you’ll allow me a cheesy metaphor; There are some who want to play with other players, but we in WOOF want to play with other people. Our main pastime is playing in corporately while cheerfully talking on top of each other in TeamSpeak. And in fact we like each other so much that many of us even play other games together. Imagine that!

In the meanwhile, we’ll be flying our ships and shooting our lasers, missiles and guns at other ships while being silly in TS and game chat. See you in the madhouse on the battlefield!

Charter

The players in WOOF are a varied bunch from various corners of the world. Most are obviously European, but we have picked up some stragglers from other places as well. Age-wise we’re all over the scale, from teenager to granddad. Some (most, I daresay) are ace pilots, others a bit less so. The main common theme is that we’re all functional human beings who like to play with internet tanks and enjoy being part of this cozy little collective.
