The purpose of the Xenology Institute is to study any non-human form of life, whether it is a technologically advanced species, an extinct species, a primitive species or an animal
As humans discovered and colonized more and more systems, in the 23rd century a group of researchers and sceintists created the Fauna Studies Institute to keep track of all the newly discovered alien wildlife. In 2438 humans made the first contact with the Banu, but the FSI was just interested in the study of animals.
The Xenology Institute was born in the 26th century as an evolution of the Fauna Studies Institute as a consequence of the recent human contact with the Xi’An and the Tevarin and the recent discovery of the hadesian artifacts, as a collection of scientists and researchers interested in the study of other alien species and the Fauna Studies Institute became a department of the newly founded Xenology Institute, together with the “Spacefaring” and the “Ancient” Xenology departments.
The “Primitive” branch of the Institute was born towards the end of the 28th century, after the discovery of some primitive developing species and the introduction Fair Chance Act (2795) that protects those species. Although the UEE officially protects primitive species, they are still very vulnerable to smugglers and poachers. For this reason, and in order to defend the ships of the Institute themselves, the Security Department was instituted.
Today the Institute includes five departments:If you’re interested in studying all aspects of alien species feel free to apply. Whether you’re interested in solving the mysteries surronding the ancient Hadesian civilization, seeing how primitive species evolve to better understand our past, studying the fascinating culture of the technologically advanced species living in our neigbouring empires or studying the alien wildlife living on planets allover the Empire, this is the place for you!
This organization provides a place where people interested in these subjects can discuss and learn new things. The Institute includes several departments focusing on different groups of species (extinct, primitive, spacefaring and animals). Each department is divided into teams guided by a team leader who dictates the target of the study of his team at any time (language, culture, diplomacy, …). The Institution will collect all the new information discovered by the teams and will organize trips and escursions for the teams by directly contacting research stations, embassies, collecting samples of all the needed species/artifacts and anything else the teams may need for their research.
If you’re interested in security we also have a Security Department that will keep the reaserchers and the objects of their studies safe.
Life as an AXD researcher
As a researcher of the Ancient Xenology Department your job is to study extinct civilizations and alien species. Your target is to determine how and why those species disappeared, how they looked like, how they interacted with each other, what kind of technologies they used and so on. Your sources are historical records, fossils, artifacts, ruins and every other trace left by the extinct species.
Life as a PXD researcher
As a researcher of the Primitive Xenology Department your job is to study primitive developing alien species. Your target is to study the development of those species, their level of intelligence, their social interactions and so on. Your sources are public documentations and studies, observation from research stations in orbit around the planets where those species are located and, even if direct contact on the planets is generally prohibited, there are some specimen one some stations that allow direct study.
Life as an SXD researcher
As a researcher of the Spacefaring Xenology Department your job is to study spacefaring alien species. Your target is to study the culture, the language, the religion, the biology and all the other aspects characterizing those species. Your sources are public documentations and studies and in most cases direct contact with the objects of your studies. The UEE is at peace with most other spacefaring species in/around it (Xi’an, Banu, Tevarin), doesn’t have any contact with the Kr’Thak and is at war with the Vanduul.
Life as an FSD researcher
As a researcher of the Fauna Studies Department your job is to study alien wildlife. Your target is to study the biological characteristics of those animals. Your sources are public documentations and studies and direct contact with the objects of your studies.
Life as a Security Guard
As a member of the Security Department your job is to protect the researchers while they do their job.
Interfering with the species that are target of the studies is stricly forbidden unless you have been authorized
These are the roles you can fulfill by being part of the InstituteThe daily job of a member of the Institute may consist in studying samples, learning new languages, looking for information or making escursions to have direct contact with the object of their study for example.
The target is to eventually have at least one Endeavor “equipped” with some Reliant Sen escorted by Hammerheads and some fighters at disposal per each department.
