Will ever items and guns stay on table without bouncing and clipping?

Remember the holographic pool table in the opening scene of "The Trainjob" (Firefly S01E02). We've already got holographic windows (airshields) and the Starlancer ad borrows heavily from the episode. The coding for 2D pool games has been relatively simple since at least the 90s. If they allowed for the balls themselves to be holographic and non-physical, the biggest job would probably be our avatar's animations. As someone who owns both a 600i and a Starlancer MAX, I'd be totally fine with this.

CIG has this concept that they want to make them functional.
Building Blocks was supposed to be the thing that was stopping a lot of these things (certainly vending machines and arcade games) from working. That went in years ago at this point and there's been no movement.
So is there an intent to make it functional? Yes. Will it ever actually be? I doubt it.

Building blocks is only related to the interfaces, like having a web page using CSS to replicate a an old flash page. I understand why they would want to use building blocks for the vending machines and for the arcades, but in theory it should not affect games like the pool table or the chess... unless the pool table is not physicalized and you play it as a mini-game on its own interface.

Building blocks literally replaces Flash, which was used in CryEngine... so it's not just like replacing flash...

That's why I called those two out in my own post. I don't know how they imagine doing pool, and their implementation of chess is very poor. I don't think they have a plan for it.

They're already getting plenty of hate for spending so much time on new mechanics instead of fixing the game, and apparently they've finally changed course a bit to prioritise stability instead at least for this year. I can't see them investing what little capacity they have for working on new features into something so inconsequential to any core gameplay for at least the next year. If it were up to me, that sort of thing would be one of the final polishing touches to the game when the actual space ship flying part already works flawlessly.

Are they? What new mechanics are you thinking of.
and apparently they've finally changed course a bit to prioritise stability instead at least for this year.
They did that in 2018 when CR had the epiphany that they were making a live service game.
They did that again in (2022?) when they moved initial feature development to SQ42 so that they could keep the PU more stable and introduce features that were both more complete and less desabilizing.
But I'm sure this time they mean it.

What if it turns out that you need to make engine or game changes to facilitate this design goal. How much shall we invest in a system that we'll have to toss and re-do later?
Hell: I'd settle for CIG explaining how g-forces are supposed to work in StarCitizen? I've got pools of liquid and lose coffee makers and tables covered in billiard balls. What's supposed to happen to them when my pilot is blacking out from g-forces?

Completely agree... But let's be realistic, and we'll talk about it again at the end of this year, most of the current bugs will not be resolved. Neither those in the whole game nor those in the various ships... that's a certainty... and I'm willing to bet 1 million dollars on it with anyone!!! They prefer to spend their resources on beautiful video trailers that cost a fortune... it is not in their interest to repair their "Alpha" full of bugs.
Instead of waiting for a working pool table, chess table or some arcade game terminal, wait for, one day in a few years for a movie called Star Citizen or something like that... Financed directly or indirectly by C. Robert* or RSI/CIG directly or indirectly (more likely)... with "some" part of the donations will be used for that!
