I think Spectrum, as a communication platform, would serve the community better if there was a Live Information Channel where short messages could be posted by staff about current ongoing problems/patch deployments/momentary announcements, etc. There would be no need for community posting there, it being just a distribution channel, although it could take the chat format for convenience, with only staff having posting rights. Currently, for some reason, those live messages are delivered in the Test Chat two ways: in static form on the MOTD, or in active form by chat messages by the staff. That method of delivery is lacking. The MOTD uses terms as "today" or "tonight" which are very confusing in a worldwide platform, and the live chat is no way to deliver information, as it gets lost quickly. The benefits of this information channel would be: - Each person sees the messages with their own timezone stamp. The poster would only need to specify the duration and everyone could easily calculate when things are expected to happen. No more "today" in MOTD that pertains only to US CST time. - No chat clutter. The information channel would contain staff information only, ala distribution channels in social messaging platforms. - No polluting the Test Chat, which currently hosts people just avid of information and full of questions. Gathering everyone there just to have to ask them to behave makes no sense at all. Hopefully you find this petition worth of implementing. Thanks and see you around.
