I avoided space sims as they failed to provide the realism I sought. My first, however, was Freelancer (Hamburg server) where I was active daily for around two years. Unfortunately, with the top guns and ships, there was little left to do.
I spent a similar time in StarTrek online. I was one of the first to reach Federation Rear Admiral and after various senior officer posts, became Commander of one of the largest guilds, Section 31.
