Why Anvil? According to the game's lore, Anvil is headquartered on the planet Terra, Nova Kyiv. The AN-225 Mriya aircraft itself was developed by Antonov Design Bureau, which is located in Ukraine, Kyiv.

What you need to know about the AN-225 "Mriya" (Dream)? The aircraft was designed and built in the USSR in a single copy at the Kiev Mechanical Plant in 1984-1988. The first flight was made on December 21, 1988. Initially, two crafts were laid down; only one copy was in flight condition and operated by the Ukrainian company Antonov Airlines. In the USSR, it had tail number USSR-82060, after the collapse of the USSR it became the property of Ukraine and received tail number UR-82060. The second aircraft was not completed. The reason for the construction of the An-225 was the need to create an air transport system for the Buran reusable spacecraft project. The main purpose of the heavy transport aircraft in the framework of this project was the transportation of various components of the launch vehicle and spacecraft from the place of production and assembly to the launch site. There was also an important task of delivering the space shuttle to the launch facility in case it landed at another airfield. In addition, it was planned to use the An-225 as the first stage of the air launch system of the spacecraft, which required the aircraft to carry at least 250 tons. Since the blocks of the Energia launch vehicle and the Buran itself had dimensions exceeding the dimensions of the An-225 cargo compartment, external cargo carrying capability was provided for on the aircraft. The presence of a wake from a bulky cargo set at the top of the fuselage required replacing the An-124's single-fin tail unit with a two-fin tail in order to avoid its aerodynamic shading. Thus, the An-225 was created as an aircraft designed to solve a narrow range of unique transport tasks, but the use of the An-124 as a basis made it possible to use it in the future as a super-heavy transport aircraft for transporting bulky cargo.
