📡 Citizen Radio: Bringing the Verse to Life One Broadcast at a Time

“You’re tuned to 89.7 K-VRX, broadcasting live from an undisclosed asteroid in Pyro. Stay frosty, drifters—this next track goes out to the crew limping home from Jumptown.”

What if your next atmospheric re-entry into Lorville came with thumping synth beats and a snarky DJ cracking jokes about the local customs officers? What if Stanton's political drama, piracy hotspots, and racing circuits had their own late-night talk shows? What if every system had its own voice?

Meet Citizen Radio—a modular, AI-powered system designed to bring fully immersive, in-universe radio to the Star Citizen community. Think GTA’s iconic radio stations, but live, dynamic, and deeply embedded in the events and lore of Star Citizen

🎙️ Radio Reimagined for the Verse

Citizen Radio isn’t just a playlist—it’s a living, evolving audio experience. It combines music, fictional advertisements, DJ segments, station IDs, podcasts, and player engagement into a continuous stream. And the best part? It can be completely automated, or manually curated for that personal touch.

Dynamic DJ Talk & Lore Segments Fully AI-generated or human-written banter from charismatic hosts, tuned to current game events, lore, or faction drama. In-Universe Ads Spoof commercials for fictional companies like Hurston Dynamics or shady black-market dealers—perfect for flavor and immersion. Multi-Character Podcasts AI-generated discussions between lore characters, scientists, mercs, and journalists—debating tech, politics, and mysteries of the 'verse. Smart Music Scheduling Procedural energy/mood curves, listener ratings, and custom rotation logic create soundscapes that flow with gameplay. Live Engagement Real-time integration with YouTube chat lets listeners influence what plays next and have their comments referenced by DJs.

Want your own custom station for your org? Or a pirate-run broadcast from the heart of Pyro? You can manually upload your own music, prompts, and scripts, or lean into full automation. The system will:

Monitor folders for new content prompts (DJ, ads, podcasts, etc.) Use LLMs & TTS to generate and voice the content

This lets you take breaking news or ideas and push them into the radio stream as a general prompt and let the system flesh it out, produce it and stream it live.

Coming soon will be; music track 'lyrics and style' generation.

🚀 A Whole Network of Stations?

Here’s where it gets wild: the dream is to build multiple community-run, in-lore stations, each with their own personalities, music styles, and narrative perspectives.

A Crusader-based chillwave and astro-jazz station for those late-night cargo hauls. A pirate-run hardcore metal stream from Pyro that doubles as coded intel for raids. A UEE propaganda channel pushing navy recruitment and “official” news. A junkwave AM station scraping together weird transmissions and alien rumors.

Each one could be AI-powered or run by community contributors. All fully modular. All aware of game events, org wars, or even your own roleplay narratives.

🛠️ Built by the Community, for the Community

Radio is culture. It binds systems, communities, and characters together. Citizen Radio imagines a future where Star Citizen’s in-game airwaves are as rich and chaotic as the universe itself. Citizen Radio is open source and designed to be easy to deploy. Whether you're a streamer, org leader, or just love immersive lore content, you can spin up your own station, theme it how you like, and start broadcasting.
