Yesterday i had the idea while i was trading with my caterpillar.

so i took a screenshot and tested this simpel upgrade what i would expect from drake and made a redit post.

there the community reacted pretty positve and gave a fitting name THE DRAKE BUTTERFLY an evolution of the caterpillar.

in the comments also came up some intresting ideas and questions so i created a little lore to the butterfly.

drakes caterpiller was known for its superior hauling capacity for planetside haulers but with the release of the hercules, crusader industries created a ship what outranged the caterpillar in its superior hauling role by far. something had to change quickly and they came up whith a pretty simple idea to upgrade the long prooven caterpiller and get back the superior hauling capacity it was known for. the idea of the butterfly was born. they startet a mirror produktion of the hauling pods, front and back secktion, adapt the cockpit so there are 2 docking slots and the rare left main engine to dock one of the mirror caterpillars together. Because off the short time frame given for this projekt, the engineers review the docking ability of the cockpit sektion and decided it isn't necessary anymore and better to reenforce the connection between the to main parts off the ship. the caterpillar moduls also work for the butterfly but just on the right side because drake only produces the cargo moduels mirrored to save money.

pls let me know what u think about this concept.

fore everyone intrestet in the redit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/15d0r8f/ship_idea/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1
