If you don't have $250 for Tobi or $170 for TrackIR, but you really want good head tracking, look at SmoothTrack instead! It is $10. Skip Starbucks twice and it is paid for!
I've been using this for about a year now. Yes, you can use the free built in FOIP for head tracking. But it can impact your frames per second quite a bit due to the amount of CPU that it consumes. SmoothTrack does the CPU heavy stuff on your Android or iOS device and sends just the X, Y, and Z information over the network. It is quick and works great.
