Recreating Citizencon 2947 Vid w/PES+PhysicalCargo

In 2017 Citizencon started with a video of a cargo ship exploding at the edge of space and cargo raining down and persisting on the surface. In 2017, that video represented a vision for the future. Today, the future is NOW!

As with all things Star Citizen, good things are worth the wait.

Sometimes I like to test things (FOR SCIENCE!) and sometimes those tests end up being an amazing display of the technology within Star Citizen. My aim was to give Persistent Entity Streaming (PES) and the Cargo Refactor which bring physicalized 1 SCU cargo into the game for the first time. I chose to replicate the video shown before Chris Robert's introduction at Citizencon 2947.

The premise was simple:

Load a C2 with as much cargo as possible along with an escape ship, in this case the new C8R Pisces. Fly to the edge of a planet's atmosphere and set the ship to self destruct. Evacuate the ship by using the Pisces as an escape (c)raft in this emergency situation. Watch C2 go boom and watch both cargo and C2 fall to the ground. Fly down to the surface before cargo hits the ground. Check cargo distribution and then leave.

And yes I returned to the site after going to another planet and the cargo was still there, that's why I placed Luminalia present boxes in the ship, so I could track where the cargo fell and be able to return to the site to verify everything was where it fell after traveling around the system.

Thanks to everyone who helped build and test this amazing technology which will enable so much gameplay in the years ahead. I really feel that in 5 years 3.18 truly will be remembered like 3.0 is today. The patch which changed the Star Citizen universe forever.
