"The Belligerent Duck" MSR Scale Model

Inspired by the original "Belligerent Duck" artwork, officially licensed Mercury Starrunner model in 1:200 scale (12 cm long) by JRDF (available soon). Assembly/painting by me. Magnets allow to display different configurations (landed/flying).

Acrylic colours were used as a basecoat. Most markings, logos and the distinct halo-like design were masked and airbrushed onto the model.

I also added a lighting kit.The main engines light up with fiber optics that are connected to an inductive LED hidden in the main cargo hold. The LED is powered wireless via a copper coil in the base.

Some more dirt and grime was added with various acrylic, oil and enamel colours.

I used a fine brush to paint the smaller markings like the dents, chipping and scratching and also to pick out small details like cables and thrusters.

The effect on the cockpit was achieved by airbrushing a gradient from dark to light blue and adding a couple of "stars" in the upper darkest corner with a brush.

More definition was added by giving more contrast to the panel lines with an oil wash.
