The Freelancer MIS can do just about anything

Being an older ship, the MISC Freelancer MIS shows its age, but it is a great ship to start out in when you arrive in Stanton. When you enter through the cargo hold, it’s easy to accidentally trigger the turret when you try to close the door. And heading forward the airlock… sometimes depressurizes, so make sure you always have your helmet on. And the airlock is on top of the ship… but there’s no way to turn the gravity off so you can’t actually get out of it. Then the small port-side airlock in the hab is a bit of a tight squeeze, and in the habs. So, just be careful when using it.

But the pros definitely outweigh the cons. I love the look of the Freelancer series. Having four gimballed S3 laser cannons to start off with is great for doing most missions, and the enormous amount of missiles you can carry, I like to use 20 Thunderbolt IIIs and 32 Pioneer Is, means that you don’t need to stop for repair, rearm, and refuel very often. The cargo hold is small, but it’s big enough for an STV. In a Freelancer MIS, you can do nearly any mission in the ‘verse solo. And as more systems come online, having the capacity for a crew of four gives you an amazing amount of versatility. With the pilot on main guns, the co-pilot on missiles, the third crew on the rear turret, and the fourth seat for a dedicated engineer, you’ll be even more formidable. Add an STV or two in the back and you can get in and do just about anything. When I bought my first Freelancer in 2942, I had no regrets. I’ve upgraded it over time to newer models but I am very happy with the Freelancer MIS.
