Vanduul Interpreter

For my submission, I challenged myself to create a compelling narrative between two characters in under one minute, using the six provided Vanduul phrases (plus one phrase from last year's SQ42 demo to improve flow). I framed my submission as a diegetic audio log, recovered from the ONX Left Hook after a fictional PMC group captured a Vanduul raider on Uriel. Inspired by diagetic narrative experiences like Halo's Hunt the Truth, I want listeners to feel like they are in the room, witnessing an event taking place between two characters in the universe.

All content is original and/or sourced from CIG. All lines were performed by me, editing was done by me in Adobe Premiere and After Effects. The Vanduul lines were downpitched, EQ’d, and layered with a subtle split-pitch echo to simulate a microphone in a holding cell. Reverb, volume adjustments, and spatial panning were then applied to individual tracks to bring the soundscape to life.
