Wing Commander III: Heart of the Tiger is the third main game in Chris Roberts' Wing Commander science fiction space combat simulation video game series, developed and released in 1994 by Origin Systems. It was a departure from previous games in the series in that it uses extensive live action full motion video to add an interactive movie-style presentation to the space combat gameplay. The game's more than two hours of video featured a number of prominent movie stars including Mark Hamill as Colonel Christopher "Maverick" Blair, Malcolm McDowell as Admiral Tolwyn, and John Rhys-Davies as James "Paladin" Taggart and Thrakhath nar Kiranka. It is also the final title to the confrontation between the human Confederation and the Empire of feline Kilrathi. The player assumes the role of pilots Christopher "Maverick" Blair, the name set main character now, which is identical to the protagonists of the two predecessors.

The player could choose to make decisions about how conversations would play out, and this would affect the storyline and gameplay later on.

The war against the Kilrathi is going badly for the Confederation. Its flagship, the Concordia, has been destroyed, battles are lost on all fronts. War hero Colonel Christopher Blair is transferred to the old carrier Victory. Take the role of Blair and ensure the success of the Confederation's last-ditch attempt for victory: the destruction of the Kilrathi homeworld.

Trivia:

At the time, it was the most expensive video game ever made, at approximately $3 million.

It was Electronic Arts first million-seller on DOS.

There's a novelization of the game published by Baen Books.
