The Claw Salamanders are an independent faction and outlaw group based in the Nyx system. Known for their custom-made armor suited for cold environments and helmets that conceal their faces and modulate their voices, they can generally be found living in deep freeze environments. The group's origin is not known, but evidence suggests that it may have been started by out-of-work miners who lost their contracts when the United Empire of Earth (UEE) government elected not to claim the Nyx system in the late-26th century SEY. The Claw Salamanders largely keep to themselves unless they are in need of resources, but will attack those who intrude on what they consider to be their territory.
