Do not share your Login ID with other players! This might be seen in RSI Launcher, game and launcher logs or the in-game dev console. Search and replace all LOGIN ID with ### before posting logs or delete those lines. There are multiple layers to account security and this is the first one. (Example with descriptions of the info from a game.log file.) This can be in multiple places: CGameServerChannel::OnDisconnect channel_id=993 account_id=##Number CIG understands## username="##Login ID here!##" nickname="##Handle here!##" displayname="##Community Moniker here!##" cause=17 reason="Client changing server" (Example from launcher log.log) { "t":"2019-01-25 16:54:17.131", "info":{ "event": "AUTHENTICATION_SUCCESSFUL", "data": { "username": "##LOGIN ID##" } logging may write your global IP Address if you do not use a local gateway. Otherwise local IP is fine (commonly 192.168.1. xxx or 0. xxx). (uncommon) Windows set up with default profile under a Microsoft Account may use part of real NAME or EMAIL as the Profile. Profile may be identified several times in game.log and console. If this concerns you then ## it before posting or create a Local Windows Account for future testing. When asking for help, be detailed! Title should a brief description of your issue. Folks may not be interested in 'I have a problem' but if they know why your 'Cutlass door won't open' they might check it out. Write down what you expect to happen, what you are doing, and what happens instead. If you're unsure, let us know so we can give thorough and thoughtful replies. Did it act differently before and when? Has it been a year since you logged in? Are you a new backer? Welcome! :white_check_mark: I click a button (words on the button), it should do (this), but instead it does (that). :x: It doesn't work. Include the Game Version under the Launch/Update/Install button like 3.11-###-PTU or 3.11-###-Live. The Delta Patcher version at the bottom right. Sometimes there is more than one build running and it helps to know up front where you are. [Include Pictures] if it helps but hide your Account info! It's often easier to show than to tell. What you call a gizmo, someone else might call a doohickey. If you get more information, you EDIT your Original Post to add important details to the top. If you find the solution, add that too :slightly_smiling_face: You can even edit the post's Title to add (solved) or similar. Crashes to desktop or installation issues. There may be clues in your log files which can point us right to the source of the problem. (See "Get to the logs" below.) It may help to get these ready in case someone asks. Also provide System details: Processor, Graphics Card, Installed RAM and Windows version. The resolution and types of screens you have. Input devices, storage types, other running software and tools - if you know it then write it out! These recommendations are for the Community Tech Support forum here where helpers may not have a lot of time to search for clues and you might want good answers quickly. If you need to Request Support from RSI the same tips may help them help you. Feedback Feedback for the current release, Issue Council Report discussion, and special requests from the Devs have a dedicated forum channel. RSI also looks for general suggestions and feedback elsewhere. This Tech Support forum is for - you guessed it? Tech Support! If you post your Topic in the right section, it's more likely to get the right folks interested. No question that is asked is a bad one but for game ideas, general SC discussion, etc. there are [Specific Areas] for those too. If you change your mind, you can EDIT your Topic into a different Channel (use discretion, may not be free of issues or bugs). What is PTU? Isn't that the 'Universe'? PTU FAQ: https://support.robertsspaceindustries.com/hc/en-us/articles/115013195927 PTU is the Public Test Universe. This is a separate 'sandbox' environment with controlled access for scaled testing. [Would you like to know more?] LIVE is the Star Citizen Alpha which is always available to Backers with a Game Package. The services and game are continually maintained and developed unlike the PTU. PU stands for "Persistent Universe". This refers to the open world of Star Citizen as a whole. Aka "SC" for many folks. The current test area is "Universe">"Stanton System" at the Game Menu in LIVE or PTU. Arena Commander and Star Marine are sims which people can play inside this world, but we just play them from the Main Menu for now :slightly_smiling_face: If you're asking about something, don't get these confused because you may not get the right answer. It helps to include the Game Version shown near the LAUNCH button (like 3.11-PTU or 3.11-Live) "Verify doesn't seem to do anything..." Any time the game crashes, the Launcher tries to detect it and should give you the red box asking you to Verify if the problem persists. This doesn't mean your game files are actually corrupted. When you click Verify, The Patcher downloads a Manifest of the most current game files. This is a 100+ MB file which increases as the game grows. The Patcher checks the integrity of your game files against this Manifest. In some fashion. It is definitely not infallible. If the Patcher does not detect any issues, no further action will be shown. log.log may write "INSTALLER@INSTALL_SUCCESSFUL" for the current build.
