Salvage Resource Rush is a new mission where a faction or mission giver requests the scrapping of a derelict in their possession, either on the ground at a junkyard or in space in a debris field.
Thanks to several mission variants, it offers both lawful and outlaw players new opportunities to earn credits from the Salvage career.
With Alpha 3.19, the Lorville skyline has undergone a significant overhaul to enhance the city’s scale and distinctive buildings. The goal for the revamp was to create a new visual identity for the city skyline with high and low-end neighborhoods, improve branding, and add landing-zone signage.
For Alpha 3.19, mining has been updated to reward players who make the right strategic decisions before their excursion and equip and plan ahead accordingly.
With updates to tools, ore deposits, refining, and selling, miners must now travel the system to get the best return on investment and embrace the added risks and rewards that may bring.
Thanks to the latest addition to Salvage gameplay, the Multi-Tool’s tractor beam attachment can now detach and attach components from ship item ports. This feature can be used to either replace components, replenish supplies, or loot other ships.

Alpha 3.18: Lasting Legacies was released on March 10, 2023. The biggest patch to date, it introduces Persistent Entity Streaming (PES) — a significant update to Star Citizen's core engine and the key to the next generation of cutting-edge features and gameplay.
The patch also includes the Salvage mechanic, cargo system refactor, breathtaking new locations to explore, a rework of the classic location Security Post Kareah, and new missions across the system. Furthermore, it allows adrenaline junkies to test their skills in time-trial race missions across Stanton.
All ships were also updated to support "soft death.” From here, ships won't always be destroyed upon death, leaving their hulls salvageable, the product of which can be sold for profit.
Alpha 3.18 implements the first iteration of Salvage into the Persistent Universe, where players can harvest Recycled Material Composite (RMC) from disabled ships. Hull scraping can be done by hand with the Greycat Multi-tool or via dedicated salvage ships like the Drake Vulture and Aegis Reclaimer. RMC can also be sold at commodity kiosks for profit. More details can be found in the Salvage & Repair guide.
The introduction of PES enabled the long-awaited refactoring of the ship cargo system, allowing both found and purchased cargo to be picked up, moved around, and placed into the cargo grid of a ship. It also makes piracy and rescue gameplay more lucrative, as boxes and crates now persist wherever they're dropped.
A derelict settlement on Daymar has sprung up around the wreckage of an Origin 600i and a Crusader Mercury. Not only is this a new explorable point of interest, but players can also earn rewards for completing new action-packed missions (puzzle, traversal, hostile A.I.) around the location.
One of Stanton’s classic locations has been given a makeover with new missions and gameplay vital to the security of the system.
The station is now protected by full-time Crusader Security who, alongside guarding the fabled CrimeStat terminal, have begun storing confiscated materials and contraband around the place.

Complimenting the release of loot generation in Alpha 3.15, our latest patch grants the ability to sell looted items to most shops through their newly redesigned kiosk. Prices will vary depending on the location and type of shop, so offload your goods carefully!
Further fleshing out the mining career, a new type of usable can now be found at refinery decks around Stanton: the Mining Gadget. These can be used to further alter the properties of the ore you're trying to mine, allowing you to crack open bigger and tougher rocks. Take the risk of exiting your vehicle to place one of these for a shot at a much bigger reward.

Alpha 3.16: Return To Jumptown was released on December 22, 2021, and introduced the Dynamic Event, Jumptown 2.0, along with improvements to grav-lev vehicles, a new hospital location in Area18, and new environmental derelicts.
Across Stanton, three drug factories (one classic, two new) are working overtime, offering enterprising citizens the opportunity to make a fortune. Be careful though, as it’s not just a leisurely grab-and-go hauling job…
The first iteration of this all-new feature litters space with crashed and abandoned ships waiting to be explored. Inside, curious players are challenged to navigate their way through the wreckage to uncover the loot within.
Derelict ships also premiere laser trip mines that must be disarmed or avoided at all costs. These traps will be available to use in-game by players in a coming patch.
Alpha 3.16 improves all grav-lev vehicles in the game, making them more fun to control across the various planetary terrains of Stanton. Players can also adjust the height at which their vehicles hover; bikes will move faster the closer they are to the ground, but the risk of a serious crash on rough terrain also increases.

Alpha 3.15: Deadly Consequences was released on November 10, 2021, and introduced a new medical system, complete with hospitals, tiered injuries, and a plethora of medical drugs and tools.
When injured, players will now enter a downed state, where they can call for help and be revived by others.
The head, torso, and limbs can now be individually injured, each impacting player control and movement. For example, a broken arm impedes a player's aim, while a head injury causes dizziness. Injuries are tiered, with less-serious ailments being temporarily treatable in the field, though all body damage must eventually be healed at a medical facility.

The loot generation system places dynamically-generated item crates throughout the universe for players to discover. From planetary surfaces to landing zones, it’s worth scouring the corners of the universe to load up on guns, armor, consumables, and more.
NPCs and downed enemy characters can be looted too, so players should always check for anything useful before moving on from a fight.
A major step towards a truly persistent universe, the Personal Inventory physicalizes everything owned by the player and manages it through the new 'NikNax' Asset Manager mobiGlas app. Of course, the size and weight of weapons, consumables, armor, and more affect what can be equipped at once, so now every journey must be well considered beforehand.
Players must carefully gear up before missions, as inventory space is limited. However, ships with weapon lockers and personal storage can be used to store additional equipment, making long trips more manageable.
