This was Chris Roberts’ second game for Ocean (who owned Imagine), he conversion the game on the BBC Micro.
Match Day was a very successful game at the time, which meant that Ocean wanted to bring it to as many platforms as possible. As Roberts had just developed a best-selling game for the BBC, he was obviously the first choice for the port to the system. Martin Galway worked on the C-64 port and may have had an influence on the decision to choose Chris for the port.
Match Day is a simple arcade football game. It is literally just a one off game. It does have a two player option at least.
Trivia:
Chris has immortalized himself once in the intro with Chris85 (first name + year of release) as well as in the game in the scoreboard with C.R.CORP.
The Cover was also made by Robert "Bob" Wakelin, a British illustrator best known for his extensive catalog of box art for UK publisher Ocean Software and related label Imagine Software.
