The UEE Army’s 22nd Special Astro Service Regiment (22SAS) is a premier UEESF unit focusing on ground combat, who also utilize small militia-modified civilian craft and gunship troop transports for space ops.

(OOC: In actuality, this is for members of the 22SAS clan who play SC.)

WHO DARES WINS

History

Originally formed over one thousand years ago in 1941 and becoming the model for special forces around the globe, the then 22nd “Special Air Service” Regiment was the United Kingdom’s elite Special Forces unit.

As humankind ventured out into the void of space, conflict of course followed them, and although other special forces units were formed specifically to operate in this new frontier, the skills of the SAS were still of use in extra-terrestrial theatres.

Over time, there was both less and less conflict on Earth, and more and more occurring off world, which resulted in the operations of the SAS becoming predominantly in space or on other worlds, so it became quickly obvious that the ‘A’ in SAS was no longer applicable and needed to change. Thus in 2345, it was changed to the “Special Astro Service” (although other words were considered, they would have changed the acronym, and since the SAS had recently celebrated it’s 400th anniversary, is was decided to use the word “Astro” in order to keep the historic initials despite the word not being the most favoured of the options).

Even now, three years after it’s 1000th anniversary, the UEE’s 22nd SAS Regiment is still being used for counter-terrorism, direct action and covert reconnaissance & intelligence gathering operations.

(OOC: The 22nd SAS Regiment UK Gaming Clan was formed in December of 2001 with the game Ghost Recon. Since then, we (the members) have played many games together, including – Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield; Battlefield 2; Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter; Battlefield 2142; Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2; Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare; Call of Duty 5: World at War; Eve Online; Battlefield: Bad Company 2; Battlefield 3; Battlefield 4; Insurgency; Elite: Dangerous. I hope that Star Citizen can be added to that illustrious list.)

Manifesto

As a special forces ground unit, the 22nd SAS Regiment will focus on planet-side ground combat against militant combatants, but will also make use of small armed spacecraft for patrol, strike and assault operations as well as gunship troop transports for ground troop deployment operations.

Also, as an elite military unit, the 22nd SAS Regiment is prohibited from engaging in combat with civilians, including those considered “pirates”, unless: the actions of those individuals or organisations have been considered acts of terrorism and the 22nd SAS Regiment is to be deployed in it’s counter-terrorism role; to defend themselves or an innocent victim (those who cannot defend themselves) – within proximity of themselves – from violence when they or an innocent is attacked unprovoked.

When not “on duty”, members of the 22nd SAS Regiment are free to conduct whatever business they see fit, except where that business is in breech of the law (ie smuggling of controlled items) or the above prohibition to combating civilians (ie engaging in piracy) except where it is allowed by law (ie bounty hunting known pirates). Members are considered “off duty” when: there are less than a specified number online (# TBD)/there is no conflict being engaged in/the Regiment is not under direct attack. Members are considered “on duty” when: there are more than the specified number online/the Regiment is taking part in conflict/the Regiment is being actively attacked by another organisation (and only when all members online are in agreement to be “on duty”).

Charter

Members of the 22nd SAS Regiment shall follow the default clan SOPs at all times.

In addition, members are not permitted to engage a civilian in combat unless: they are defending themselves or a third party victim from violence; they are engaging in bounty hunting operations when “off duty”, but only then when it is permitted by law (ie hunting a known pirate).

When “on duty”, members are encouraged to act as a military unit and engage enemy combatants together.
