History

Founded by a group of ex-UEE scout pilots and their EWO’s, the DES grows by fits and starts. A small organization at best the pilots are an independent minded group who are almost more of a loose association than a tight organization.

The DES is a the continuation of the centuries old explorers’ societies, like the venerable Royal Geographical Society (RGS) . The main difference between those groups and the DES is wealth, they were mostly well funded by wealthy patrons. We on the other hand need to work hard to earn the funds for our explorations.

The society was founded with aim of exploring the dark spaces between the known travel routes, hoping to find profitable jump points. We have had more success finding salvageable wreckage to sell to others.

Still the dream lives on, the DES continues it founder’s aim of locating the big score.

None the less bills must be paid to fund their treasure hunting, the DES is well known for taking dangerous scouting mission along Vandal space for the UEE and other PMC’s. There are rumors, unsubstantiated as of this writing that they will also work for corporations and less savory organizations.

The known “fleet” is small, a couple of Aurora’s and a battered 1st gen Freelancer, which is known as the Winnebago, although no one outside of the DES seems to know why. It is suspected they have some other ships but if they do where they are kept and what they might be is a well kept secret.

Manifesto

Overview:

Play hard, Play easy – just find time to smile while you play.

Cliché sure, true sure too.

The DES is dedicated to deep space exploration, far from the last vestiges of civilization.

We seek that which is unknown, jump points, drifting wrecks, new worlds.

Our single guiding principle is to move through known and unknown space unseen, find the hidden, lost, or simply rumored and bring it to light.

Benefits

This org is more along the lines of a loose association, the primary benefit is to have a group of individuals you know who can assist you as required.

Secondary benefits:

#An Org market place, where we offer found or “acquired” products to our members at discounted prices.
#Org members acting as crew members
#Sharing of Galactic information in the org – safe areas, tapped out areas, etc.

Gameplay

As a loose association of explorers, we expect our members to play that role. You may be an escort, supply ship or clearing house for merchandise. But we expect exploration to be focus. if you want to be a bounty hunter or pirate this is not the org for you.

Solo play is fine and understandable, but please be in the org TS channel when playing. There will be times when we will need to group up.

We are a role-playing org, but it is not a requirement feel free to unleash your inner explorer or keep him chained up as you wish

Conduct

We are all adults behave like one, excessive profanity, racial or other slurs will NOT be tolerated.

You will be summarily discharged for any of the above there are no excuses. The odd curse when your ship blows up or similar event occurs is understood, a 10 minute profane tirade is not.

Multi org membership is discouraged, if you can make a valid case it will be considered but it is not expected to be the norm
