History

Havencross

The History

Our history, as with most, is best told as a story.

Youtra Tarquin was born an Earth-child to Jarvus Tarquin and Ell Tarquin in the year 2854. Youtra’s mother, a senator of Venus, and his father, a skilled trader were a well-known power couple. Youtra was not a very curious or passionate child. The result of this, coupled with his parents high profile, was the constant disappointment of family and friends. His parents, realizing that he might never find his own path, put Youtra through occupational training to become a merchant. They assumed he would perform poorly at this but thought it better for him to have a useful skillset. Much to their amazement, Youtra had a serious penchant for haggling and bargaining. During the year 2872, after the inception of the Synthworld, Youtra’s mother turns up dead in the back of a maintenance van in front of the senate. The case remains unresolved but it is thought to have been an assassination. Jarvus Tarquin commits suicide a year later, his son finding him lying in his bed with a knife in his chest next to a picture of Ell. Bereaved and alone, 19 year old Youtra decides to join what he perceives to be a merchants guild called Ghost Rose. He could not be more wrong, though to his credit Ghost Rose does take part in legal trading but that part of the guild is small when compared to their underground smuggling network.

Youtra is conned into a 45 year work contract as a smuggling coordinator. His job would be to arrange smuggling routes for smugglers, acquire and sell goods. Unable to find a way out, Youtra works this job devotedly for eight years. After eight years of work and gained reputation Youtra asks Ghost Rose to let him retire. Despite having no valid reason to keep him working, they refuse. Their explanation was that Youtra is the best coordinator in the guild only after eight years of work. To lose him was a hit they didn’t want to take but only for the sake of greed. With no way out, still, Youtra continues working.

On a recon mission to the Davien star system Youtra meets Essa Vin, a troubled smuggler in much the same situation as him. To help protect her from violent guild rats she had a falling out with, Youtra reassigns her to his smuggling depot and has all of her routes going to and from there. She eventually decides to find out why she has been re-stationed and goes to his office. He then explains that it is to help her. They begin working closely together trying to find a way out of the smuggling trade.Time does its thing and they eventually begin falling for one another. They, albeit unintentionally, conceive a child, in the year 2885, whom they name Ilt. They decide not give Ilt a family name because both the Tarquin name and the Vin name had acquired a substantial amount of notoriety. While raising Ilt and coordinating smuggles, Youtra began outlining a system of trade flow, collection of ships and necessary personnel required to effectively establish a hold on the economies of the UEE, Banu, and Kr’Thak. He worked diligently for ten years on this. Youtra had almost amassed the necessary contacts to bring such a thing into existence. Unfortunately, all of his work is cut short after one of Essa’s smuggling missions is compromised, giving contact information and the whereabouts of all involved to the High Advocacy. Not wanting Ilt to live the life of a fugitive child who would likely be kidnapped and sold into slavery, they give her all of Youtra’s research and send her on a ship to Earth.

Youtra and Essa are both killed in a dogfight with Advocacy agents just outside the Davien system. The freighter that Ilt was on hadn’t even gotten out of the system yet. She could probably even hear the weapon fire.

The details of project Havencross found their way to the men and women who would later create it. It is rumored that this was Ilt’s design. Either way, Havencross is the mercantile pipe dream of Youtra and is now our reality. Havencross, our home now, is the legacy of her parents.

A man with dreams who is destined to fail is a man whose dreams might live on forever…

May you both rest in peace, your dream will never die.

Organization Information

What is Havencross now?

Havencross is intended to be a group of trade enthusiasts and merchants with their eyes set on conquering intergalactic trade. We are extremely new but our goal has never been clearer. During these early stages we will be focused on following development and theory surrounding the economy and coming up with a feasible course of action. Of course we’ll also be trying to have fun and make some money along the way. That said, we are NOT just merchants. We want aces and support types as well. No mercantile empire can survive without people to protect the wealth.

How do we approach the topic of Roleplaying?

Roleplaying is a bit of an interesting topic when talking about Star Citizen. This is because it is designed in such a way that you are almost encouraged to invest more than just button clicking into the game. We intend to do that and though I personally have a flair for the dramatic, we’ll be trying to keep our egos in check. We think of roleplaying as acting as your character would while still maintaining some level of respect for your fellow players.

Do we have a scheduled playing time?

Not currently but depending on how many people we can bring in we will eventually come up with a time that works for everyone. It is TBD and certainly open for discussion.

How will we communicate?

Discord’s the name and Star Citizen is the game. We think it’s currently the best way for gamers to interact with one another using VOIP.

Conclusion

We want to stand at the forefront of this universe.
What that means we will define ourselves.
We don’t want all of the spotlights but we want one, and a big one at that

But succeeding alone isn’t how we roll.

Charter

The Haven asks that you,

1. Respect your fellow members in all aspects.
2. Not stand for injustice in any form. We are not police but we are citizens of an expansive universe, we choose what is allowed in our universe.
3. Respect the hierarchy of the organization. We will never be tyrannical, everything can be solved through reason, understanding and conversation.
4. Be a person of passion. Joy and thrill come from risk, so risk investing your emotion in whatever community we create here.
5. Keep each other accountable, a forest is only as strong as the trees growing in it.
6. Be willing to fight to defend the things that we will come to hold dear.
7. Understand that while we are a “roleplaying” organization there are boundaries to what is acceptable and unacceptable. Do not break any of the previous guidelines for the “sake” of roleplaying.

Any amendments to the charter will be reviewed by a council of executives.
