Roadmap Roundup

Happy Friday, everyone!

Each and every week, we accompany the Roadmap update with a brief explanatory note to give you insight into the decision-making that led to any changes. This is part of an effort to make our communications more transparent, more specific, and more insightful for all of you who help to make Star Citizen and Squadron 42 possible.

With that said, let’s go ahead and dive into this week’s Roadmap Roundup!

Notable Changes for September 18th, 2020

Relaxation of Armistice Restrictions
This card has been added to the Roadmap under the Alpha 3.11 Column. You can learn more about the changes coming alongside this card in yesterday’s Armistice Restrictions Update post. | Allowing ship combat in Armistice Zones around all rest stops; FPS weapons combat is still disabled. Also ensuring our stations are adequately protected and policed by defense turrets, and the ability to call security response ships as needed.

Stanton System Spacescaping
This card has been added to the Roadmap under the Alpha 3.12 column. | Utilizing the newly available gas cloud tech, VDB elements will be crafted to spacescape the lagrange points in the Stanton System to improve their overall aesthetic and better highlight gameplay areas.

Ship AI: Hazard Awareness and Avoidance
Large portions of the work for this card overlapped with the upcoming Stanton System Spacescaping feature. AI pilots need to be able to navigate obstacles and dynamic entities as realistically as possible, including asteroids, hazardous gas clouds, structures, and other ships, some of which will be included in the upcoming Stanton System Spacescaping. The team has decided to work on these two simultaneously, and this card has been moved to the Alpha 3.12 column.

The following cards have been moved to Polishing:
  • Updated Ground Textures
  • Updated Geology
