This Week in Star Citizen
January 30th, 2017

Greetings Citizens

Greetings Citizens,

What. A. Week! A handful of us traveled to San Antonio, TX to attend PAX South and a Bar Citizen event organized by the community. We had a great time, and were honestly shocked by the amount of passion, support, and energy that you all provided us during our visit. The feeling in the air was electric! These events really recharge the ole battery for us, and we are more hyped than ever to be back in the studio today, working to deliver great content for all of you! Big shout-out to Gany and Jorunn for organizing this event, pushing the Bar Citizen movement, and building a level of camaraderie unparalleled in gaming.

So, what’s going on this week?

Monday introduces Citizens of the Stars, our new weekly program exclusively about you, the Star Citizen Community. Citizens of the Stars not only highlights the contributions of our community, but also puts a developer in the hot-seat for a round of Quantum Questions, which addresses some fun facts about the developer and the game. Whether through bug reports on the issue council, feedback on the forums, or the creation of content inspired by the game, Star Citizen is only possible because of the community.

On Tuesday, the Lore Team is back at it again with another installment in one of their many continuing series. If you’re interested in the narrative that will bring the Star Citizen Universe to life, you’ll want to check these out. You can also browse previous posts here.

On Wednesday, we check in with the man who fears no creature, the resounding champion of pest control, the smasher of all things bugs, Mark “Bugsmasher” Abent! Make sure to tune in to watch another bug get smashed, and take a detailed look at one of the many hurdles involved in game development.

Thursday. Prepare your F5 keys for the first Around the Verse episode of February, where we take an inside look at the on-going development of Star Citizen! These episodes grant us a great opportunity to peek behind closed doors, deep-dive the complexity that is game development, and get to know the people working tirelessly on the project behind the scenes.

Lastly, join us on Friday where we’ll broadcast LIVE at https://www.twitch.tv/starcitizen for another episode of Star Citizen Happy Hour!

And with that, we’ll see you in the ‘Verse!

Star Citizen Alpha 2.6 delivered detailed new camera controls, empowering creative citizens to capture stunning moments in the ‘Verse. Last week, we took a look at some of the beautiful screenshots submitted found on the Community Hub; this week the theme is “Capture Citizen,” highlighting some of the fantastic videos created by all of you! Below you will find a few that stood out to us as being especially epic. Don’t forget to check the Community Hub for more and upvote your favorites. You just might see them here in the near future.

A Star Citizen Tribute for Bowie by Flyken

We’ve seen some amazing content from our Community since we debuted the Director’s Mode. Flyken has done a great job utilizing these new controls to create a music video of “No Plan” by David Bowie, a personal favorite.

Watch the full video here.

Dark Hour by Sonari1

I really enjoyed this intense and action packed short film by Sonari1. From exploring the wreckage of a Starfarer, to space combat, to protecting Comm Arrays from villanous pirates.. It goes to show that there is never a dull moment when exploring the ‘Verse!

Watch the full video here.

Director Mode Showcase by PKawaii

PKawaii shows us how dark and poetic Space can be. In his Director’s Mode Showcase video, he uses unique camera angles, wonderful voice-over narrative, and an eerie soundtrack that will send chills down your spine.

We hope this becomes a series!

Watch the full video here.

Moons of Crusader – Cellin by pHON1Cx

We frequently see videos of combat and flight, but rarely focused on the environments surrounding Crusader. “Moons of Crusader” is a series by pHON1Cx showcasing the vast and beautiful moons orbiting Crusader in the Stanton System.

We are looking forward to seeing what pHON1Cx will create once we are able to go planetside.
